How do you clean your acne-prone skin?
Having a proper skincare routine can help acne-prone skin reduce blemishes like pimples or blackheads. The first essential step in this routine is to gently cleanse the skin.
The first thing to put aside is the misconception that acne is a hygiene problem. Having acne is not dirty and it is completely normal!
Indeed, acne can be caused by many factors: hormonal variations, stress, environment, medication...etc. We can also categorize the different types of acne and thus propose the best care to treat the consequences.
Although acneic skin is not related to a hygiene problem, it is still essential to take care of it and clean it properly to allow the skin to maintain its balance.
Tips for cleaning your face when you have acne-prone skin:
✅ Make-up removal
If you need to remove your makeup, choose a gentle micellar water because it allows your skin to maintain its acidic pH while carrying away the makeup and excess oil on the cotton pad. You can also use a makeup remover oil. It sounds contradictory but once rinsed, it usually turns into milk / emulsifies which allows you to get rid of impurities and have a non-greasy finish.
✅ Cleaning
It is very important to clean your face daily, especially in the evening, to eliminate all the impurities accumulated during the day.
In the morning, you can use a lotion or a hydrosol (like lavender for example) to wake up your skin, tone it and readjust the pH of your skin.
In the evening, use a gentle facial cleanser that does not strip your acne-prone skin. In fact, products that are too aggressive, especially those with irritating surfactants, risk altering your hydrolipidic film, your skin's protective barrier.

Its little plus: the kaolin which allows to absorb the excess of sebum and to regulate its production.
✅ Scrub and Mask
As for exfoliation, opt for a gentle exfoliator, to be used only once a week. Avoid grainy scrubs and turn to masks and chemical exfoliation based on enzymes and fruit acids (AHA, BHA) that remove dead cells and limit the appearance of blackheads. Be careful, however, to test the formula beforehand to make sure it's suitable.
