What is the heavy legs effect?
Heavy legs are associated with venous insufficiency. Particularly in summer, when temperatures rise, veins dilate and the valves that prevent blood from flowing downwards under the effect of gravity malfunction. As a result, venous return to the heart is no longer guaranteed, and blood stagnates in the legs. They feel heavy, swell up and... ouch, they hurt!
