Stop the preconceived ideas: Sebum, you have to get rid of it!
What is sebum?
Oily skin, enlarged pores, blackheads... Whose fault is that? Sebum, enemy number one. We would like to get rid of it at all costs and yet it is essential to the health and beauty of your skin. And yes!
Where does the sebum come from?
Sebum is secreted by the sebaceous glands, which are more numerous on the face, décolleté and upper back, and absent from the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. Sebum is mainly composed of lipids such as fatty acids and is not produced in the same quantity throughout life: very important at birth, sebum then comes back in force at puberty, hence the appearance of pimples and blackheads. Sebum production then stabilizes, but its balance remains precarious: a pregnancy, a contraceptive, a poor lifestyle, a too aggressive skin cleansing and it's back to excess!
What is the purpose of sebum?
Often considered as something bad, sebum actually allows to protect the skin! By participating in the constitution of the hydrolipidic film, it allows the skin not to dry out, by "greasing" it, and also protects it from certain microbes (thanks to lactic acid, for example). It is also thanks to him ifone avoids the dehydration when one is in a country with the hot and dry climate. Sebum is also essential for beautiful hair: it prevents it from becoming dry and brittle.
How do we manage sebum?
To limit sebum production (but only when it is excessive, i.e. when the skin is shiny, the skin texture is irregular and the pores are visible), there are effective treatments:
✅ Clean That face - the creamy gel cleanser for blemished skin
In co-creation with Valentine, we have developed a cleanser that does not strip, but cleanses and regulates excess sebum thanks to Aloe Vera, lavender and white clay.
A clean and fresh skin, all in softness!
✅ Mixed Feelings - the gentle scrub to de-clump without harshness
With Laura, we have formulated a scrub that allows for a gentle, non-abrasive mechanical exfoliation that does not destabilize the skin's balance, but effectively removes impurities.
The most of Mixed Feelings? Its oil texture. Very beneficial for the skin, hazelnut oil does not grease the skin and limits the production of sebum. Magic!
✅ Dot is not an option - the blackhead cleanser that respects your skin: Joanna came up with a cleanser that would limit the appearance of blackheads. Once again, the idea is to prevent the skin from feeling assaulted.
Without alcohol or perfume, it is ideal for the sensitive skins. With an astringent effect, the formula will naturally tighten pores and its chemical exfoliation will bring a refined skin texture and a radiant complexion.
