Beyond false beliefs - A COEUR OUVERT #40
We've had enough of the misconceptions surrounding our bodies. So today, we're setting the record straight.
Touching thighs
Ah, the thighs... Generous and round, they were the height of beauty in the 17th century. In those days, plump thighs were not only in the limelight, they were also a symbol of health and fertility.
Fast forward four centuries, and we find ourselves in an era where beauty standards have made a 180-degree turn. These days, the watchword is clear: to be beautiful and Instagrammable, thighs must not touch.
The downside of this trend? Women whose thighs touch each other end up considering themselves fat.
WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE!
Thighs that touch are not a sign of overweight, but a question of morphology. Yes, you heard me right. It's your body shape that determines whether your thighs touch or not, not your weight!
And it's not the only false belief worth deconstructing:
Wide hips
How many times have we heard that wide hips necessarily mean excess weight? In reality, it's often a question of bone structure. Some people naturally have wider hips than others, just as some have wider shoulders. It's just another natural variation in the human body.
The flat stomach
The flat stomach has been elevated to the ideal of beauty, but many women have a small belly even if they are in excellent health and shape. This may be due to the position of internal organs, genetics or simply to the natural distribution of body fat.
Firm arms
The idea that firm arms are a sign of perfect fitness is another myth. Arm skin can be looser due to genetics or weight loss, and this in no way diminishes a person's strength or health.
At Nideco, we believe in setting the record straight and leaving each other alone.
We believe in beauty without taboos, inclusive beauty that celebrates every body type.
