Skin changes and blemishes during menstruation
🔥 Week 1:
During menstruation, estrogen and progesterone levels are at their lowest, making the skin more reactive. During this phase, the uterus produces prostaglandins. This induces a greater sensitivity to pain, which is why our skin is more sensitive.
Blood circulation is also slowed down, which can affect the appearance of our complexion. Drier and more sensitive, the skin may see the appearance of imperfections due to inflammation.
✨ Week 2:
Estrogen levels increase to peak at ovulation. This is the time when the skin does best because these are proteins that boost fibroblasts. They allow the skin to have good hydration, elasticity and suppleness because they participate in the proper production of collagen and hyaluronic acid in particular.
🍔 Week 3:
Sebaceous glands are stimulated following the increase of progesterone level, making the skin oily. Blemishes may also appear as pores are more dilated. Estrogen levels decrease and the skin loses moisture.

🔴 Week 4:
Progesterone levels drop, as do estrogen levels.
Another hormone, prostaglandin can also cause increased redness.

💪 What to remember.
During the period before our period (10 to 15 days before), our skin undergoes hormonal changes leading to imperfections and sensitivities. To meet the needs of the skin and provide comfort and softness, we have co-created Oh My Periods, a special pre-menstrual period facial.
