How to act effectively but safely on perspiration?
Sweating is essential for regulating our body temperature. The production of sweat moistens the surface of the skin, which lowers the body temperature.
But why do we smell bad when we sweat?
This comes from the degradation of bacteria on the surface of the epidermis. They transform the molecules coming from the apocrine sweat glands (which secrete sweat) and their secretion induces the "bad smells" associated with perspiration.
NB: It is during adolescence that these glands become active due to hormonal changes at this stage of development, just like the growth of breasts, menstruation or hair growth.
To meet the needs of consumers, 2 solutions currently exist on the cosmetics market: deodorants and antiperspirants.
ANTI-TRANSPIRANTS are used to stop the perspiration process, notably by using aluminium salts. The idea is to block the channels of the sweat glands.
This year, the Scientific Committee for Consumer Safety indicated after study that the amount of aluminum salts used in cosmetic products did not indicate a real risk to health.
❌ However, the mechanism of action of antiperspirants and their not very clean composition, push us to put them aside in favor of deodorants whose action (limiting odors) does not interfere with the regulation of your temperature.
DEODORANTS are used to limit odors and sometimes to absorb sweat.
They may contain antibacterial actives such as Triethyl citrate, as well as odor masking actives and/or perfume.
Which format should I choose?
- Spray deodorant dries quickly but often contains polluting gases.
- The roll-on is convenient but does not dry fast enough.
👉 And both can contain alcohol, which is irritating and harsh to the skin flora. In short, not great!
- 🌟The cream deodorant effectively moisturizes and protects the underarms, which is a sensitive area.
OUR ADVICE
✅ Wash your armpits daily and dry them well to prevent the growth of bacteria.
✅ Moisturize the skin of his armpits, particularly solicited: perspiration, depilation, rubbing clothes...etc. it is essential to moisturize it well to avoid dryness, redness, hyperpigmentation, itching and ingrown hairs.
✅ Favoring clothes made of natural fibers, which allow to breathe and avoid moisture on the surface of the skin.
✅ Favor natural deodorants over antiperspirants, which can irritate the skin and prevent the sweating process necessary to regulate body temperature.
TO BE AVOIDED
❌ Apply antiperspirant too regularly: it blocks sweating and therefore disrupts the natural flow of perspiration.
❌ Razor: it irritates the skin, which is thinner on this area of the body. The small cuts it creates can also become infected.
❌ Deodorants with alcohol: alcohol is an irritating and drying ingredient. Avoid especially on shaved skin.
Inspired by her daily life, Anouk thought of a multifunctional deodorant that absorbs excess perspiration, prevents bad odors, moisturizes the skin andprevents ingrownhairs.
