Sunburn: how can you repair your skin?
Summer often means prolonged exposure to the sun.
The UV index (intensity of ultraviolet radiation) is higher during this season, so it's a good time to remember to protect your skin to avoid sunburn.
By the way, what is sunburn?
Sunburn is nothing more thana skin burn of varying intensity and severity, caused by prolonged exposure to the sun's rays, particularly UVBs .
Although UVB represents only 4% of all UV, it burns 1000 times more than UVA. They attack skin cells, causing damage to their DNA. This irreversible damage promotes skin cancer.
10% of them even reach the deeper layers of the skin. They also induce the so-called "delayed tan" 2 to 3 days after exposure, which serves to protect the skin by synthesizing melanin.
UVA rays also have harmful effects on our skin, particularly as they also modify the DNA of the cells affected, promoting skin aging and the appearance of cancer.
What are the symptoms of sunburn?
🔴 Redness of the skin (appearing up to 24 hours after exposure) sometimes leading to itching
♨️ Sensation of heating, burning - If the burn is intense, it leads to desquamation. Skin peels.
🌡️ Pain and sometimes even headache and fever.
🎈 Blisters. This is a 2nd-degree burn.
What to do in the event of sunburn
If you find yourself sunburned, the first thing to do is toassess whether or not the burn is superficial.
🩺 If it's a second-degree burn, you won't be able to treat it on your own. Consult a doctor. This will include cleaning and treating the burned area.
❄️ If the sunburn is less intense, apply a thick layer of repair cream such as I'm not a mermaidour soothing aloe vera and caper jelly. Don ' t hesitate to reapply several times a day, especially to the neckline and hands, which are particularly fragile because the skin is thinner there.
❌ Above all, avoid peeling skin
⛱️ Avoid exposure for the next few days, especially to avoid scarring.
💧 Remember to keep well hydrated too. Drinking water helps the skin maintain its hydration, just like any other organ in the body ;)
