Stop the preconceived ideas: There is only one type of skin!
STOP Preconceived notion: There is only one type of skin!
When looking for skincare products, we like to be sure that they really suit our needs. This is why it is essential to know your skin type: normal, combination, oily, dry...
Determined by our genetic heritage, we tend to place ourselves in a single typology. But we forget that thestate of our skin and its needs evolve according to the external factors to which the skin is exposed: medication, hormones, food, environment... etc.
A quick reminder of skin types:
- Normal skin: healthy, balanced skin that has no damage to the hydrolipidic barrier or sensitivity. It is characterized by a bright complexion, a velvety texture and rebound, and no imperfections.
- Dry skin (not to be confused with dehydrated skin): skin that produces too little sebum and therefore lacks lipids. It is characterized by desquamation (patches), a rough texture and feelings of tightness, even redness and chapping.
- Oily skin: skin that produces too much sebum. It is characterized by visible pores, a shiny appearance and a thicker texture. It is very prone to pimples and blackheads.
- Combination skin: skin with a variation on the cheeks and on the forehead, chin and nose (the famous T-zone).
It is characterized by rather dry cheeks and a rather oily t-zone. External factors such as pollution have a real impact on our skin needs. Thus, a skin can present the characteristics of an oily skin during a given period as in adolescence or if it is for example cleaned too frequently with unsuitable and too stripping products.
Skin can also become dry over the years, especially if it is particularly exposed to pollution or temperature changes. It will then be necessary to adapt its routine accordingly with more nourishing products than before.
❌ "You will have understood, no skin is locked into a "type"
It is essential to take the time to evaluate your needs as the months and years go by, in order to adapt your routine.
