"Mom, mom! I'm bored! Does it remind you of something, this sentence you used to repeat all day long when you were younger?
That moment, after a string of Razmokets episodes, when mom decides to crack down on you by depriving you of TV. The disconnection was total; the boredom just as much. Helpless, you ended up creating totally incongruous things. That's how you once discovered the creamy combination of Nutella and ham.
Since then, you've grown up. And everything is different! Come to think of it, how long has it been since you've been bored?
Mind you, we're not talking about when you're hanging out on Insta because you're finding the time long while waiting for your show to load.
No, we're talking about real boredom, without any solicitation: no screen, no book, no friend, no cooking or make-up time, no crisis of tidying up, no phone call to a friend, no Spotify playlist.
To refocus on oneself, to work on one's imagination, one's creativity or simply to feel good, boredom is more than essential.
In a world where we don't even have time for ourselves anymore, being bored becomes almost an effort. But a necessary effort.
Walk, swim, sit on a bench with your eyes wide open or lie on your bed with your eyes wide closed: whatever the technique, beauty, but let your mind wander 💛
Ps: the reference to the Razmokets is specific to the childhood of our editor. The said reference can obviously be adapted to everyone's generation.
