Thighs that touch each other, a real taboo and false beliefs!
👑 In the 17th century, generous, round thighs were considered a symbol of beauty. To be admired, women had to sport plump thighs, a sign of health and fertility. Four centuries later, beauty standards have changed. Today, the standard imposed by social networks and certain fashion magazines is the exact opposite of what was once valued: slim, sculpted thighs, and above all, thighs that don't touch.
But why this obsession with not having thighs that touch? And above all, is it really a problem? Let's dive into this topic to debunk false beliefs and talk about body realities.
Touching thighs: a natural and normal phenomenon
First thing to remember: thighs that touch are not a sign of overweight ❌. It's a perfectly normal phenomenon that depends above all on morphology. Indeed, every body is unique, and the shape of thighs varies from one person to another. Some women will naturally have thighs that touch, even if they're slim, while others, who are rounder, will have a space between their legs.
This body diversity is linked to bone structure, muscle and fat distribution, and not to "excess weight". Yet many women feel complexed by the fact that their thighs are touching, influenced by idealized images circulating on social networks, notably the inescapable "thigh gap".
The "thigh gap": an unrealistic fad
🧐 The "thigh gap has become a beauty criterion on Instagram, worn by models or influencers who flaunt slim silhouettes, with thighs that don't touch. But is this idea of a gap between the thighs really an indicator of beauty or health? Absolutely not.
It's important to remember that the "thigh gap" is a body characteristic largely influenced by genetics and bone structure. For some women, it's simply impossible to have a thigh gap, even when very slim, as it depends on the shape of the pelvis and the position of the hips. Aiming for this ideal can therefore lead to unnecessary frustration, and even to unhealthy eating and physical behaviors.
Why do thighs touch?
👉 Touching thighs can be influenced by several factors:
- Natural morphology As mentioned, your body structure is one of the main reasons. The width of the pelvis, the arrangement of muscles and the proportion of fat play a key role in whether or not your thighs touch.
- Lifestyle Body weight and muscle composition can vary over time, depending on your diet, level of physical activity and lifestyle habits. However, even with regular exercise, some women will always have touching thighs, as this also depends on genetic factors.
- Hormonal fluctuations Hormonal changes during pregnancy or menopause can alter the distribution of fat in certain areas of the body, notably the thighs. This is the body's natural reaction, so it's normal to see your body change at certain times of life.
Touching thighs: a problem of comfort, not beauty
😢 The real problem with touching thighs isn't aesthetic, but the discomfort it can cause. Indeed, thigh rubbing can be unpleasant, even painful, especially in hot weather. This phenomenon, often referred to as "thigh fire", can lead to irritation, redness and even injury if left untreated.
See our article on chafing irritation.
But don't worry, it's neither inevitable nor impossible to solve! Today, there are products specifically designed to prevent and relieve thigh chafing.
No Friction Here! the solution to thigh chafing
🤩 For those who regularly suffer from thigh chafing, No Friction Here! is here to bring you an effective solution. This anti-friction treatment was co-created by 4000 pairs of thighs (yes, you read that right!) to meet the needs of all women whose thighs touch. This insulating, restorative product is designed to soothe irritation and prevent chafing all day long.
No Friction Here! is a light, invisible, easy-to-apply cream that forms a protective barrier on the skin. Thanks to its natural active ingredients, it instantly soothes the skin, preventing redness and irritation caused by friction. It's a real ally, especially during periods of heat or physical activity when rubbing can become more intense.
How to prevent thigh chafing?
In addition to using products like No Friction Here!a few tips can help you avoid chafing and improve everyday comfort:
- Wear suitable clothing Choose clothes that don't squeeze your thighs too tightly. Loose-fitting skirts and shorts, as well as lightweight pants made from breathable materials, are ideal for preventing chafing.
- Use anti-friction bands These elastic bands are placed around the thighs and act as a barrier between the legs, reducing irritation.
- Apply cream or talcum powder Before going out, apply a moisturizing cream or talcum powder to your thighs to reduce friction and protect the skin.
- Choosing the right underwear The right underwear that covers the thighs can also help prevent irritation.
Touching thighs: so what?
Finally, touching thighs is not a beauty issueIt's simply a morphological characteristic that's part of body diversity. It's time to put an end to the false beliefs that associate this phenomenon with a negative self-image.
😜 Every body is unique, and whether or not your thighs touch has nothing to do with your beauty or health. So it's important to accept yourself as you are, value your own body and free yourself from the diktats imposed by society.
At Nidécowe believe that beauty lies in diversity, and that every woman should be able to feel good about her body, without having to conform to unrealistic standards. So let's embrace our touching thighs, and celebrate our natural beauty!

Thighs that touch... a hell... and it was already when I was thin... the only effective solution for the moment, wear a cyclist under the dresses in summer... many women have this problem, and wait for a real solution...
For me, the thighs that touch each other is a real torture in summer.
It's the only time of the year I don't put on a dress or skirt because of it. Irritation, redness and burning... the best combo for spending a summer in pants... not even in shorts because they ride up and the thighs end up touching anyway. So I made the choice to wear as little dress as possible or if it happens to me, with seamless shorts underneath. But in the summer it keeps you warm.
In winter I don't really have problems because I wear opaque tights so it limits the friction between the thighs.
For a long time I avoided wearing shorts or dresses, especially on vacations when I knew that we were going to walk a lot and therefore that I was going to hurt a lot!
I first tried creams, which were quickly diluted by perspiration, so I had to put some back on quickly (after only 1 hour), which was not always easy when we were hiking in a group or walking in town.
I then switched to cycling shorts, but very aesthetic under short shorts. And it's hot, it often cuts the belly in 2, it rolls... Not the most practical either!
I have all the time the thighs which rub and that hurts, that burns, I try to use a shorty but it goes up, then the evening before putting my pyjamas I put some cream but that does not relieve I hope to be able to test this marvel and thus to finish with its cursed pains and its rubbings bisous
As soon as I wear a skirt or dress without tights it is the catastrophe. After a few hours the friction creates burns between my thighs forcing me to walk like a duck to stop suffering. After having tested a lot of things (talc, insulating cream, moisturizing...) nothing works... the only technique I found: shorty. But it's hot. It compresses the belly for some. In short, not the best. And then why I need to put a short. Why can't I have a skirt like all the girls? So I really put a lot of hope in your product...
In the summer I love wearing dresses and my thighs have always been touching each other causing huge irritations, painful, not glamorous and very embarrassing. To counter that I wear a cyclist but for the strong heats it is a thickness moreover which is not of most pleasant! I tried the anti-perspirant with a not at all clean compo which works quite well but is not at all good for my body. I hope this product will work miracles!
Personally, it's especially during the summer that it's hard... really hard. As soon as the nice days arrive, if I go for a walk and I'm in a dress/skirt, quickly the friction becomes unbearable until the burn that takes several days to pass. To the point where I put my dresses/skirts back in the closet unless I know I'm not going to walk too much...
As for the rubbing on my feet, my pain is more localized in my toes, which prevents me from wearing certain shoes.
If this product can help me/us it would be so great!
As far as my morphology is concerned, I wouldn't say that my thighs are really a problem. On the other hand question comfort, ouch ouch !
I've had rubbing thighs for a while now, even before I gained weight (thanks to the upside down Y-legs). When it started, I was advised to use an anti-chafing cream, specifically Nuk. It wasn't too bad, except for an unpleasant smell.
But as soon as I had to walk a lot, or as soon as I gained some weight, it was no longer enough and I was fed up with the "old" smell.
I switched to "thigh bands" made of some kind of lace with a non-slip band. It remained my favorite solution for a long time! It is rarely seen under a dress or skirt, it did not slip or roll, it is not visually disgusting, really practical.
But it became more difficult to get them since 2 years, and I had to buy more as my weight increased, at least as my thigh size increased, each "push" making the bands too tight, in addition to the wear and tear.
I have tested other anti-friction products, but none as effective as the Nuk and its terrible smell/limited effectiveness... Whether it is sun cream, oil, various balms and creams.
I then tried shortys. But they are often uncomfortable, roll, can be seen through the clothes because of the belly band, not long enough... The only good one I know is the one released this summer by Léa de Cuissoh, heart on her.
But the shorty is good in winter, because in summer it's hot, it makes you sweat even more, it shows under your clothes. And once again, as you get bigger, they become too small and you have to spend a lot of money to change them when they are not even worn out...
I got fat again, the thigh bands also ended up being insufficient, as they don't cover the entire height of the area that rubs.
I went from erythema when I walk a lot, to burns just for going to get the bread. I'm "only" a size 42/44, but my inner thighs are now constantly rubbing, even in pajamas that are a little big, even in shorts, and even in tights!
So I'm back to looking for a care product rather than a garment, because it's more versatile and adaptable to the area of friction. But I would like, even if I have to use it several times a day, that it doesn't smell so bad that people run away or feel nauseous, nor that it is so greasy/thick that it stains clothes or makes you walk like a duck, because it's so unpleasant between the thighs.
It would be a plus if it could be used on other areas. I suffer from rubbing in my shoes, on my heels and little toes, I don't know if a treatment could help, rather than wrapping everything up like a mummy, in plaster.
At times I also have irritation in the folds of my armpits. I have fragile skin and the slightest irritation will get much worse because of the inevitable friction, unless I keep my arms up 24 hours a day!
For example, at the moment, my favorite deodorant has stopped being produced, I've been looking for a new one that suits me for months. I sweat a lot, it is a handicap for me. I wanted to take the opportunity to try to find one without aluminum, and there it is the height. I have allergic reactions to most deodorants/antiperspirants without aluminum...! Right now it's hell, I don't know what to put on the patches that have formed to relieve the constant rubbing. My skin is on the verge of breaking out.
So much for experience with rubbing and different solutions tested/researched, over time! I'm betting a lot on this new product :D
Between the thighs that rub in the summer and the bra that irritates almost all year long, I would love to be able to test this formula. I regularly use shorts under the dress but no viable solution for the bra stays...
In the summer I only wear long dresses but I have to wear cyclists underneath otherwise I can't stand the friction! Sensation of discomfort and burning at the end of the day... And in winter the tights are not enough to avoid the rubbing.
And all year long, I have rubbing under the bra stays and there is no real solution because a bra is not enough to support my chest.
Can't wait to try this cream and hope it's not too greasy either :-)
When I see the summer coming, it's a hell, the friction zones multiply, under the chest, behind the heels, between the thighs and the buttocks. It's not bearable anymore, I have to use think on think on think, shorty, and no solution for the rubbing of bras. I dream of finding a clean cream that would meet these needs. I currently use bariederm but I'm not sure of the composition. Can't wait to try this cream.

As soon as the weather is nice, I want to wear dresses, skirts, shorts... but it's always a real headache. With the heat, the rubbing and the perspiration also come the irritations... the pimples, the scabs! Not only is it painful, but also unsightly, embarrassing and a source of complexes.
There is the option of shorty of course, but you have to find one that is not too hot, not too long, not too loose...
A real headache!
Can't wait for an effective, affordable and durable solution! 🧡
the problems of rubbing often occur in summer when it is hot, so I hope that the care will not be too greasy. In winter the rubbing can appear at the level of the belt of the pants with drying of the skin for the sensitive skins.
It's a headache to wear skirts and dresses in summer. The irritations and pimples are accentuated with the combo of rubbing and sweating... It's the same after a sports session where my skin is all red and itchy.
I love wearing dresses and skirts! Since I gained weight, I swear by them because jeans have become too uncomfortable. Yes but, the thighs which rub until limping like a small duck it is the horror (rednesses, small buttons, pains, burns and with perspiration that stings) I put systematically a cyclist under but when it is hot it is not top.
Hello. An apprehension every time I wear a dress or a skirt without tights. And the shorty option is not always possible. Suffering from chafing is complicated.
Difficult dresses or skirts I opted for short leggings underneath
I hope this product will help me
Hello . This problem of thighs which touch me brought me big worries of irritation. I had to use cortisone cream at one point because I was so badly affected in the groin that I was bleeding. My skin turned brown in this area. Since then, it has come back frequently and the cortisone cream doesn't work too much anymore. It itches even through the tissues. I only use cotton, the rest amplifies the itching.
Thighs that touch each other....a real bane!!! It's been many years since I gave up the little light dresses in summer....
The sweat, the friction, the irritation, the pain, it's just unbearable!!! Moreover, once the redness, burns installed, it is very long to heal because in permanent rubbing that quickly becomes a vicious circle. I tried creams for sportsmen but nothing makes it, winter as summer, I am in pants. I really hope to be able to find a cream which will come to end all these inconveniences so that I can dress one day as I like. :-(
I gave up wearing skirts or dresses above the knee a long time ago because I absolutely have to wear shorts below the knee, otherwise the friction causes irritation that turns into red patches that swell and hurt like hell. It is unbearable and it takes a long time to calm down afterwards because this area is constantly in use... A cream that would solve the problem would be a blessing for me because even the pants do not solve everything, it only limits the damage... My boyfriend is also affected by the problem and yet he wears jeans all year round but when it is hot, the friction hurts him too. :-(
My thighs have been rubbing for many years. Burning sensations that increase as the day goes on and for the last 3 years huge patches of eczema have been added... Burning, itching and so on... I have tried creams for sportsmen but I don't like the greasy feeling...
